Can anyone identify this tool for me please, Maybe a seed planter
I have this tool and have no idea what it is, so i took it to my dads pub to try and find out and some people think its a seed planter.
Can anyone help me out please.

Not only is it a seed planter, but also for helping get fertilizer down to the root system
 It's a tool specifically for use in places that have notoriously hard soil - used alot in South America, 'bush' Australia etc. the spikey part basically makes the hole, the green part opens up the soil, and the hole in the side is where you pop the seed down. Once you want to start fertilising, you do it a little away from the plant growth, to get the fertiliser treatment down to the roots.Silly little bits of information - they come in handy some times I remember my dad had something very similar when he had his vege garden in Australia when I was a kid

I have to say that I have not seen one of those articles before.  My guess that it a tool for planting delicate plant cuttings. Regards Kathy x

I have one of these and it is a weed extracting tool for getting weeds out of the ground with long tap roots.It worked ok but I found that I got a plug of soil stuck in the green part where you can see the hole so I had to keep trying to get the plug of soil out of it which was difficult when the soil was clay and sticky.I got fed up with that problem in the end and haven't used it in ages and it is now at the back of the allotment shed

Interesting to hear a different use for it Kandy.
Hard to figure out how it would actually get the tap root out though - how close to the weed would you put the sharp point? I'd be afraid I'd do it too close to the root, cutting it up and multiplying the problem.
