Sorry for the poor quality of the photos but it was very windy ...

I know it's not the E ficifolia which I've seen here before which is a large tree with huge clusters of flowers.

the flower reminds me of the pohutakawa tree native to new zealand

tpm, the picture was taken at a restaurant we frequent about 7-8 minutes from us in the back of beyond here in Algarve (20 minutes from the sea and 20 minutes from the mountains) ... and I think you have it spot on with Eucalyptus leucoxylon. We do have a lot of strange and wonderful species grown here. Thank you ...

Yep I pretty sure that is Eucalyptus leucoxylon I seem to remember pruning some at Ventnor Botanic Gardens *Rummages around for photo*

I was last year until about February and I'm planning on going back this Febuary till I finish college
