Out with the old in with the new

Blog entry posted by Phil Holding, Oct 6, 2014.

So having set up a compost area i am starting to strip out some of my spent plants, Peas finished for now, Runner and French Beans including some late Dwarf French Beans on their last showings. Squashes spent, Sweetcorn eaten, Tomatoes near the end. I have put all these old plants on this compost heap.
Instead of the Tomatoes in the Greenhouse i am going to try and grow some early Carrots i will also over winter some Lettuces.

I have got my brassicas doing well, Broccoli and Cauliflowers flourishing and Broad Beans in two separate areas. Where i have created space i have planted Garlic.
Growing Potatoes for Xmas, also Leeks and Brussel Sprouts. One thing i have learnt in the last 8 months on the Allotment is the cycle of growing crops and the need to utilised the plots around the seasons.
