To be picked or not?

Now that, that horrendous rain and wind has stopped, I was planning to get into the garden and get the wind damaged fencing replaced. But with numerous outstanding J S Country Tools jobs stacking up, I have today decided to turn my attention to them rather than play in the garden.

My first job would be a stock analyses to see if our stock levels are running correctly. I also wanted to know which of our Long Handle digging products was our best seller, to make sure our stock was sufficient, as we enter our busiest period of the year.

So as I sat down and ran a number of sales reports, I had a feeling the data would return our JST - 603 Long Handle Construction Shovel as our best seller. You see I assumed this product was our best seller due to the amount we dispatch each week and the feedback we receive on its features and benefits, like its title suggests its "long handle". Our customers also like its flat, wide scoop, its slight dog leg steel shaft and its comfortable wooden handle. We even get positive feedback on its colour.

After looking at the volume of our JST – 801 Forged Steel Long Handle Garden Spade, it confirmed that the construction shovel seemed to be the most popular product. I wondered why this could be and assumed it was due to the promotional marketing to professional landscapers / contractors we do on a regular basis.


But I was amazed that in fact our JST – 802 Forged Long Handle Picked Garden spade was the most popular of all spades we supply. The product has all the features of the above construction Shovel and garden spade with the exception of a wonderful picked leading edge to the spade. The feedback from our customers is that this spade is an excellent all rounder that’s suitable for not only turning heavy clay soil, but also for cutting through weed systems with its picked blade.

We now have high hopes for our new addition to our spade range. We will be launching next week our new JST – 803 Post digging spade. This extremely useful little spade is aimed at digging post holes and has a narrow extended head. The product has all our usual spade features with the addition of an ergonomically designed plastic handle with a discreet twist.
