Well it should be yellow, but must admit it isn't growing away very strongly. It almost looks like the end has been cut or broken off the stem.

Its certainly had a pruning job done on it, and I would think it could have been grown as 3 separate trees,together, rather than one tree that has suckered.Are the smaller ones to the left in the picture the same type of tree? Do you get frost in winter?

I did a small patch last year, mostly phacelia and cornflowers with a few poached egg plants, camomile and poppies. The poached egg plants have seeded themselves and I've dug up a few good size plants this year and moved them elsewhere in the garden. This is how it looked in the middle of July....
