I used to work near the Fry’s, then Cadburys, factory near Bristol. On certain days of the week, you could smell the Curly Wurlys being made! Many years before that, we lived near Welwyn Garden City, and there was a wonderful smell of baking Shredded Wheat from the Nabisco factory.

Hello all, thank goodness it's not so cold today - wet instead but thankfully I got back from the shop just before it rained hard. And then there were none! Well not quite but the winter thrushes have gone all but 2, the blackbirds are down to 2 while the chaffinches are holding their own. Even the jackdaws are few and it isn't that there aren't any apples left. Did though yesterday have 2 green woodpeckers on the apples...

Just went out to check on my Hibiscus as it is sunny and 12c but coulfn't sit on my chair as Munchkin has occupied it ...The Hibiscus are fine and some have buds ...But the Jacaranda is thinning out ...

Just come back from the park and it's lethal on any surface other than grass, the ground is still rock solid and the rain last night can't get away, so it's black ice under puddles on the dirt paths and just totally glazed on any tarmac. Even the rough rubble carpark was impossible to stand up...

Nice size, parsnip digging was always in my memory as the ground being frozen solid.

I use Clover, as @hailbopp suggested. It has peat in it. At the moment it's sold by 2 garden centres fairly local to me in South Norfolk. I'm happy with it.

I've just found a bar of dark chocolate in the freezer.
