I think hard cutting back tends to kill them, I cut one back some time ago and it died. If they dont die they will probably look ugly.

Ho they are nice, like big trumpets, lovely colour too, brightened my day up….. our temperature at the lowest this week was -8 and 2c in the day, maybe snow tomorrow.
