No snow here either, OH is a bit disappointed. Had some heavy gusts during the night but everything in the garden looks okay and my 'Egg' chair is still upright which is a big relief.

Fruit Cages - can anyone please suggest a well made, robust cage?

I have a wooden cage as described for my cabbage etc, plus a metal frame one from Knowle nets but if I was buying now I would go for Harrod though they are not cheap.

    Heat mat recomendations

I'm just wondering if you might be a bit early, germination is the easy bit at this time of year, growing on afterwards is often the problem if you are restricted for heated space.

Heh, no. They're (supposedly) single use/biodegradable non woven seedling bags. I just keep washing and re-using them.

Suggestions for the Christmas present from hell as far as I’m concerned

Apart from it not being made very well - probably made in china - it looks not that bad.I've had worse presents myself.
