Possible I suppose, but gingers always get cut back by frost here, which is why I dont bother trying to grow any that flower late in the year.I'd leave them and see what happens.

Solved Please identify this bush/shrub/dwarf tree?
I bought a couple of these. The first season after planting, the leaves were completely demolished by caterpillars. Rather put me off replacing them.
