The problem is getting them small enough. I once ordered the smaller size of the gold leaf ones and sent them back - they were huge on me, far to long in the fingers and too wide everywhere so there's no way I could operate secateurs wearing them.I just had a look at the welding gauntlets on...

I personally don't believe they have a long term future in containers, but agree planting in that position isn't a good idea. I think some trellis on the wall with a suitable climbing plant either side of the door way would be a better option.
