Bury squash stems when pricking out?
Given that squashes/most all curcudits, grow happily in the horizontal plane, if leggy, plant with this inclination & let geotropism sort itself out.

Just had a very light shower hardly wetted the ground but the smell was rising, petrichor, sun coming out now but the clouds are moving very slowly. Colder today than for a while, around 12c.
