What is this plant?
Hello Carol, is it possible to take a picture from the front so that sun is shining onto it?

Want to help garden birds? Don't feed them in warmer months, says RSPB
It was just generally said, @shiney, which you hopefully can't deny that homo sapiens have got a terrible impact on the planet's other residents and flora and fauna.

Bury squash stems when pricking out?
Yeah I bury them a bit if they've stretched. Not as deep as you would with tomatoes though, squash stems are thicker and seem more prone to rotting if you go too far. Just enough to steady them up.

What’s in a name?
When I did my "O" level cookery exam I made mackerel fish cakes. The posh girl next to me did salmon ones. But mine tasted the best. Both were tinned fish.
