Thanks. Did not look through the images. Sadly the Data allowance gets used up very quickly on images. Disappointingly that means the one I have labelled as it, is not, the flowers are pure white.

How about getting one of those wands that roast the weeds with a flame? Never tried one myself but it should work on gravel.

hi lady gardener anne here thankyou for replying to me on the subject of alpines iwould love to try my hand at this i am shortly to have 2 greenhouses in the garden so i will dedicate the smaller one to the alpines wish me luck i think i will need it

I have always done it when they first appear above soil in late Spring. At least then you can find the resting buds from which they grow.

I'd probably agree with you about Waterperry's display (although I haven't gone there on Saxifrage day) but he does know his saxifrages.The best guy, I've found personally, for buying Saxifrages from is Dr. Steve Furness in the Alpine Plant Centre in Derbyshire. I still think the whole thing,...

Well, I am glad I opened this topic. A couple of days ago, one of the stems fell off. I was upset when it happened - even though I was expecting it. Goodness knows how I would have felt, if I hadn't been warned. There are five new rosettes growing near where the other was previously.
