My OH called in at our local branch at lunchtime. Things reduced by as much as 50% but lots of empty shelves where things such as tools and paints had been. He got the impression that a lot of "easily sellable" items had been removed, rather than actually sold to members of the public.

And while I was subscribed to her emails they seem to be in a perpetual sale of some sort or another. Such a tiring current retail positioning, just makes them look consistently expensive as they price to discount.

I bought two! And it was only when I got to the till that I saw the Parkside branding on them and remembered the voucher. £7.50 saved. Now just got to hope that my seedlings make it - today they were just starting to show their first proper leaves.

I went to The Range today and got my dill seeds for 49p. I only looked for them so didn't spot any other bargains. It's good when one gets a bargain like this when you consider I'd bought some Cosmos seeds elsewhere the other day which cost over £2.50 a packet.

A bit late now but if you buy maiden bare root trees online ( I have used Buckingham Nurseries in the past). they are cheaper and they soon catch up. I planted Beth and Concorde pears and trained them into espaliers to make a fence and they started fruiting in a couple of years. They are 23...

New seasons tend to arrive around Jan 20th, so not long to wait!
