hi, I go to a local fence company who always have wood posts and boards left over from jobs just right for raised beds, they just burn them on the rubbish pile so its worth an ask. They will give them away or sell them very cheap. Also being a fence company the wood is already treated.

Thanks Daytona! Unfortunately I have loads of veg seeds to grow, no greenhouse, a shortage of suitable windowsills and a major skill deficit in growing from seed... I wouldn't want to waste them but cheers for the offer!

As it is a cultivar , it might not come true from seed! They are easy from cuttings, see it as a diferent challenge.

Absolutely agree, although if they offer a guarantee on their plants (which Ashridge trees do) then I guess you've got nothing to lose! and they will be confident in their plants even planted during April.
