Nope, the mk6s dont rust..... only probs are the fuel pumps. The old transits were shocking for rust but the build of the mk6 is totally different to the old style.Asside from the old transits the worst vans for rust ive seen is on sprinters and vitos.

Oh what a mess I lit the heater (not usually my job ) maintenance fella in hospital and it smoked.A very willing volunteer and I spent all day scrubbing from top to bottom ,cobwebs hung from all sides now its diamond clean. We rescued most of the cuttings much to my delight and now the plugs etc...

Always take a look on fleabay, if freecycle doesn't work out you can usually pick up a cheap one there. Remind your friend to take lots of pics throughout dismantling!

Try polish shops! They mad about gherkins in Poland too. And my fairly local shop has gherkins! Its near Heathrow, but I dont think you have to travel that far! Lots of them in the ealing area and everywhere in london

you could try asking a local potter (assuming its a pottery urn and not a metal one!) to make a replica, most like a challenge and the chance to make something out of the ordinary.
