Brilliant I read they feed on lady's bedstraw and madder plant too, already had the bedstraw and bought a madder plant which has shot up in a short time.

Noticeable drop in the number of small birds around me this winter - mostly down to the Red Kites which appear to be taking over ! Putting the feeders near the prickly hedge seemed to be appreciated & I have at least three nests in there this year so things should settle down. Now I need to do...

Maybe you should add the slugs into the mix before boiling it. I'd add a little bit of carrots for flavour too...Jokes aside, the only thing I found to actually repel slugs is dry weather and planting thing the slugs don't like (onions, garlic, thyme,...). It also helps to regularly pick them...
