    That's a nice looking specimen - Kniphofia? If so, which species is it please?

    It is northiae. I grew it from seed from the American Rock Garden many years ago. the seed was wild collected in S.Africa by the Director of Denver Botanic Gardens/ Famous chap whose name escapes me.

    You're a gent! I'm planning/planting a dry spot up, although from what I've just read this likes a fair bit of moisture, so maybe on the edge of the dry spot.

    In many ways it is a rather untidy plant. the leaves are huge and rot from the tip end down. You need to spend time cutting off the ends of the leaves to keep the plant looking tidy. It gets very big too. Sadly it does not seem to set viable seed here either.
