Hello and request for help with Uni!

    Hi all,

    I am joining with zero experience but am taking hope form everyones positive comments about how friendly this forum is, please go easy on the newbie!

    I have a bare backgarden with poor drainage and partial sunligight, shabbily laid turf on uneven ground courtesy of our builder. I am aiming to get this renovated during the summer as my wife and I are expecting our first baby in September and I have been assured by firends and family there will be not time to do it once the baby arrives. I am sure they exaggerate...

    I am also looking for some info with regards to my Open Uni course so you may see me pop up on the forum again today, please dont be shy and see if you can assist ☺

        Erm, hmm the thing about "time" is ... its relative. If you are going to be the one breastfeeding, getting up in the night, nappy changing, housecleaning, working and Open Uni ... then: no! Not a second to yourself :heehee:
        One of our forum members is better placed to give you the latest on juggling a baby and garden as his family increased by a baby girl in recent months. I'm sure @Loofah will be able to give you some hints and tips from the male perspective ;)

        Great!! :dbgrtmb: Perhaps you could put your general location (not address :heehee: ) on your profile because this will help members offer the right advice for your area. Plus, members are picture hungry :heehee: so, if you could include pictures, you'll get a better response to any queries you may have.

          It is more that some parents tend to concentrate on needs more directly connected to the baby coming/just arrived...but, it all depends...I have seed a few blogs with new parents touring the world with the baby "in their backpack". I believe that must be more energy demanding than turfing the garden...

          Nevertheless, my congratulations ! :hapydancsmil:

            Loads of time. don't see what the fuss is about :whistle:

            Sort the drainage now, the rest can be sorted as and when you manage to coral friends and family. Come Sept you'll be living off casseroles for 3 weeks while you find your feet and the garden really won't matter!

              If it's a new build house you may find bricks and rubble under the topsoil and lawn - just warning you in advance. If you intend doing anything with the lawn then I suggest that you go around it stick the garden fork in quite deeply before working out what to do.

                  The trick is that when you are in charge and nap time arrives, bed him/her down in the pram outside and garden whilst the little one sleeps. :)
