Hi all, thank you for starting this thread, wiseowl.

I've been around the sweet pea scene for more years than I care to remember and have shared my experience with members of the old BBC gardening forum and latterly the Gardeners' World Magazine forum.

I'll be happy to help with any day to day queries.

Any idea what type these are, I love the colour fade. According to one neighbour they have been in around 20 yrs+ so I'm guessing everlasting. Slugs and snails are pretty rampant around here too so they seem indestructible! 20160616_104526[1].jpg

What is a variety of sweet pea that has a great scent? I'd like to try starting some.

If it has to be just one, Cupani would be that one, Lori.

Yes, they are perennial sweet peas, Linz....hard to give a variety from the pic.

Probably not exactly, Linz, but over the period of the past 20 years, I doubt if those you have resemble the originals anyway.

They are the neighbours opposite but I'll have a go, can't pass on free seed. Cheers :)

As they are your neighbours, rather frees me up to make this comment.
They look absolutely abysmal when free standing....best used to cover an unsightly fence or wall.

                Hi Linz,

Nah, the Tangier ones I'm growing have very slim leaves, like blades of grass coming off the main stem.

Bought 4 packages of seeds and have scattered most of them along the fence line. I hope they germinate. Two of the packages actually state "Heavily Scented" so I hope this is true! :)

But they all state Annual - so ???

Lori, could I ask where you are with your seasons i.e. spring, summer, autumn, winter?
Although I would guess 40C wouldn't be your winter.
