            Morning all :)

Walked Ozzy on this mild, but grey, day. One of those days where we crossed paths with the one dog in the village who clearly doesn't know the difference between canine sexes and has a particular "fondness" for our Oz  His owner is an elderly chap with no proper control of his dog. Now, his dog is a lovely Labrador, with a happy disposition, but he will not leave Ozzy alone. His owner, also a lovely chap, does not take too much notice of his frisky dog but Ozzy does find it somewhat disconcerting (to say the least) when the Lab tries to you-know-what Ozzy at every opportunity and every *where*! No part of his body is left to chance. Ozzy isn't an aggressive dog, although he does try to warn the Lab that he isn't impressed, but to no avail. I know some people find it amusing, but watching my dog being subjected to this ... onslaught ... from every angle ... isn't particularly nice. So, with the owner not taking control, or indeed any notice at all of his dogs poor manners, the Lab got the full blast Sgt Major "LEAVE IT!" experience from me :waggy: which worked a treat because he did back off, quite swiftly. Mind you, so did his owner  hope I haven't given him a headache   :dunno:

Lots of important stuff to be getting on with (out and about) this afternoon so not much time for home or garden today.

Smiles and vibes for all xxMxx

                Aloha everyone,

@"M" what was Ozzy's reaction to your Sgt Major blast? Was he able to distinguish between who was getting the order?

By the way, how did he get his name? Is he the 'King of Kings' and named after the famous poem by Shelley? :)

I actually got some gardening done yesterday, first time since returning from holiday, but it was just a lot of trimming of lawn edges. Although we haven't had rain for ages the lawns are too soft and squishy for mowing.

Michael is supposed to turn up today to carry on with leaf clearing. He has filled the compost heaps and five x one ton bags so far. We can't take any more leaves so I'm hoping to cram them into the wheelie bins.

Keep well and have a great day

                Aloha!

Michael didn't turn up! My translation of what probably happened:- He phoned at 11 a.m. to say he can't get here as his parents aren't in. His vehicle is still out of action (6 weeks so far) and he needs his dad to bring him here. I reckon mum and dad got up early and went shopping (or somewhere else) so, when he woke up, he had no transport. So he shall come tomorrow. Mrs Shiney phoned at noon and his dad answered saying that they have only just returned. :dunno:

                          Good afternoon fellow WW'ers :spinning:

His reaction was to also tell the Lab off with a little growl (almost as if my reaction gives him permission to react ) He's able to distinguish due to my body language at the time (plus, it helps that he didn't have anything to "Leave!" :heehee: ). As pack animals, it is in their best interests to know where the Alpha is, what the Alpha's body language is telling them and to judge what response they need to make :)
Lovely thought, but, in all honesty I have no idea.:dunno: I was his 4th owner/home before his 1st birthday so he'd had a very unsettled puppyhood. It was the name he came with and I made the executive decision that, as it was the only constant in his little world, I wouldn't change it. Then, it was straight off to training classes so he could learn proper doggy manners (and who's boss :heehee:) plus give him a sense of belonging. I adore him! :doggieshmooze: I do tend to call him Ozzywoz though, as in "Ozzy WAS someone else's dog but now his is mine" :heehee: Sorry for rabbiting on, but, you did get me on my "pet" subject :snorky:

Ah well! A nice thought :noidea: but everything seems to remind me of songs or poems. :dbgrtmb:

                                Info:-

Lita Roza was the person who made the song a hit in this country :dbgrtmb:. She came from Liverpool and was the first British solo singer to top the UK singles chart. Her version of the song, virtually identical to Patti Page's version, ended up as No. 17 in the top 100 UK hits for 1953 whereas Patti only managed No. 54. :blue thumb:
