Made their appearance yesterday (11th May) :hapfeet:

Must say, they have their work cut out repairing the nest (it's in a right state!) but, the best news is they have returned for yet another year! :yahoo:

Next time I feel adventurous and in contortionist mode, I'll try and get some photo's.

I hope they can find mud for the nest repair, recent rain might help.
I have seen many Swifts, Swallows and Sand Martins recently but very few House Martins, not sure what has happened, maybe lack of breeding success last year or lack of food in wintering quarters. Nest destruction is common here in the UK as 'they make a mess'.:frown:

Had swallows and house martins appear this week. Hoping some will nest on the garage. Got a jenny wren making a nest in our courtyard....above the backdoor near a downstairs bedroom....have a feeling that may get noisy!

I'll just look at one of the Swallows flying around and think of it as a House Martain

                    Good point re: mud.

There is clay in the fields surrounding us and I do keep a bird bath full of fresh water handy (plus the outdoor watering bowls for my furry family) so, hopefully, between the two, the house martins will be able to do something? :noidea:
I've just been in the back garden (their housing is on the front of the house) and there are a few flying around in their agile fashion, so I'll keep my :fingers crossed:

                      UPDATE:
It is with HUGE excitement that I can report ... not one ... but TWO nests! :hapydancsmil: :yahoo:

Not the greatest of pictures as now the nests are built I won't try taking a shot from the window for a while, but ... still clear enough:

                      I feel so privileged :wub2:
