              Talking of Handel. I think it was 2002 Football World Cup. Whichever one it was, it was in Germany and England and Scotland had both qualified. The BBC chose Handel's The Conquering Hero Comes as there title music. A great piece of music of course and by a German composer, so far so good :dbgrtmb:.

              What they didn't take into account was that Handel's chief patron was King George II and the piece was written to honour George's son William Augustus Duke of Cumberland who had just returned from crushing the Jacobite Rebellion. (My, that's a very long sentence.) :doh:

              Tut, tut BBC. Funny though.
