We were there in September and it's well worth a visit. :dbgrtmb:

We came away with some seed pods of the Cornus China Girl - with permission of the owner.

The private part of the garden (where the bronze deer etc.) are is only open on certain days so it's best to check that out.

Just to make it easier for you

If you're touring round the Lake District then don't miss the Lakeland Horticultural Society gardens.

They don't have much in the way of plants for sale but the gardens are lovely

I've never heard of the gardens but I am familiar with Pooley Bridge. I have spent many a happy hour waiting for the Ullswater ferry to/from Glenridding.

Taking the boat journey though does mean you miss Wordsworth's daffodils (the place name escapes me at the moment).

We once had a picnic at Glenridding. There is a huge area of grass area by the debarkation area. Toilets and a large car park also.

They're still trying to decide whether the daffs were in Glencoyne Park or Gowbarrow Park (probably both, at the time).

They're either side of the A5091 and are part of Aira Force Park. Near a hamlet called Seldom Seen - have you seen it? :rasp:

Glencoyne was what I was thinking of. There's a tiny little National Trust car park.

Most of my experiences have been with a coach. I haven't really had a chance to explore all the little nooks and crannies.
