Wow, someones keen to get this thread started !

No pictures, but a question if I may.

Wondered what folk use on their Fuchsias to control green and particularly whitefly ?

On greenhouse varieties , if I use Provardo find that it tends to knock the plant out for a good few weeks, the leaves seems to curl a little and look quiet sad.

I use neem oil/blast them with a hose/place them near the bird feeders, the tits love hoovering them up for their young. I don't spray anything in flower because of the bees

My fuchsia "Army Nurse" was very late to show any growth last year, but, I'm delighted to say that it still has leaves despite the frosts and snow :blue thumb: Mind you, I did move it to a quiet corner next to the back door, so maybe that odd blast of warmth when the door is opened and shut is enough to encourage it. :dunno:

I've got 3 small fuchsia shrubs put together on the end of the front garden and they look lovely in full bloom

Good idea to cut them back to reduce the chance of fuchsia mite but do it when they start to show signs of life and it isn't as cold :)

Tend to agree with Mark about cutting back ....it might be a way to control gall mite :noidea:
All fuchsias here are cut back very hard......touch wood no mite. I grow only a couple of hardy varieties and 3 or 4 tender ones. However, Cornwall is a fuchsia county...huge plants can be seen everywhere.....In theory a haven for gall mite
Gall mite is a very real, recent threat and I think 2018 will be a devastating year for fuchsias.

I really do hope it helps, as well as possibly the cold killing some of it off.. although lots are overwintered in the warm as you say, Cornwall probably won't have that luxury either  I expect it will spread further North this year. I know one member on here lost a large established shrubby fuchsia of 30+ years.

p.s. Did you get my message on your page? It won't let me inbox for some reason

Hi @Mark56 thanks for the sound advice...as they're always cut back before winter after flowering but this year they didn't get done with the cold being to bad for me :dbgrtmb:

Thanks also @Verdun for you advice on so many plants :star: :)

Not got your message Mark....Ill check it out :)
Not sure the cold weather coming will deter the mite. Its rife in europe where temps are much lower than here:)
