I've had a mobile with Vodafone for years.
My latest about 3 or 4 yrs ago.
Just found out they should have dropped my payments after the first two years of the contract, but didn't.
I've been paying the same or slightly more, after a price rise, not a massive amount, but then I dont use it much, bearing in mind I rarely get a decent signal at home or at work.

Personally I'd never use VODAFONE again and am going to get shot of them at the first opportunity, maybe tomorrow.

anyone else fallen into this trap?

I bought my phone and just use prepaid rather than have a plan. It's £65 for a 365 day period. There's rates charged for calls or texts you send but I normally don't use up all of that amount until the 11 month mark. So still a good deal.

I had a similar problem like your @pete . That is why I'm prepaid all the way. I do have a land line that gets most of my conversation time. :)

So you have to buy the Phone??
What are the chances of getting a decent signal so that you can actually use it?

I see all these people wandering the streets with Phobile in their hands and head stuck down, not looking where they are going, but I've hardly ever been able to make a call without it being cut off half way through.

I bought my mum a mobile 18-24 months ago, to allow her to have the flexibility to go for a SIM only deal or pay as you go, at her choice; it gave me peace of mind knowing she had a decent, working phone to call for help should anything go wrong (she is disabled, a pensioner and lives alone). All was well until a wee while back when Google released an update to the Operating System on the phone and since then the phone canes its own battery so it lasts no time at all, and the phone runs really, really hot. A bit of researching reveals that this is quite well known on a number of makes/models of phone since the update, and there is basically naff all anyone can do about it.

The Android OS cannot be 'rolled back' to the prior version (which was trouble free), so the phone is now essentially useless. The only choice my mum has now is to go and get another phone, which will most likely be on a contract as she can't afford to whack out a load of cash upfront for a phone not on contract. :gaah:

You see, basically I dont understand the bloody things, I dont understand apps, to me it is just a load of gobbledy goop.
I certain dont remember Vodafone contacting me 2 years ago and telling me I had finished my contract, paid for the phone, so my payments will now be dropping?
They never offered me and up grade, or if they did I dont know how they did it.

Personally I think it's dishonest, stealing, and a rip off.
But what else do you get these days, most of this bunch are crooks and out to screw you for your money.

They play on your ignorance. I always make a point of telling people that once their contract is up they must end it otherwise they pay over the odds for the phone.

They know we have all wised up a bit now so it is harder for them to get away with it.

I’m a bit of a geek and have loved mobile phones and tech for years but sim free and a pay and go sim is the best, most affordable, way now. It is even worthwhile buying one on a credit card on an interest free deal and paying it off ASAP as the upfront costs are high now. Keep the phone nice and you get a good price recycling it or selling it on.

                        I have the iPhone X.

I just want a bloody phone that works, and dont rip me off.
I dont understand all the different things you can get, free sim, contract, buy the phone, pay for the sim, its a mine field before you even get into the download this app download that, pay for some, others are free.

If the bloody thing dont work on mobile data none of it works anyway.

It is not so hard when you know the market.

Basically sim free is buying/supplying your own phone then getting a pay and go sim card, these are usually cheaper for calls, texts and data. The phone is yours always.

Contract - phone and sim in a package deal which includes cost of phone then data, texts etc which is often more expensive as they kinda play on the fact you can't buy the phone outright. The phone is theirs until you pay for it.

I reckon you could master a phone if someone has the patience to show you. Apps are not necessarily needed though some are great and free.

I've been trying to transfer my phone pics to my pc.
                            So I can dump it.

For some reason my PC has stopped recognising my phone, dont know why, it used to, but even then it only let me transfer pics from the PC to the phone, not vice versa.

Now it dont even know I've plugged it in.

Went to the Samsung site and downloaded some thing called kies, it took ages, but it still doesn't recognise it.
