Because I've had one since I was 3 yrs old, but not the last 6 yrs, something is missing.

@Vince what a question! We have all always had dogs in my whole family all my life, so always had one....
They are another heart beat in the home...
A huge welcome when you come home always....
Show you unconditional love and devotion...
Best reason to get out of bed in the morning...
I love their personalities, every one is different...
Loved experiencing different breeds and 57ners...
Loved training with them we both always learn about each other...
            My own personal home security..
            Best forever friends and confidants..
Leave a foot print in your heart when they leave never to be forgotten...
I could go on and on and on here but I won't ... ;):yikes::heehee:
To me after my grandkids the best company ever and I hope I am never without at least 1... :)

I would love another dog, however due to work commitments it would not be fair on the dog. So we volunteer for the hearing dogs and look after dogs that are in training and pick them up on the way home from work and drop them off for their training in the morning on the way to work.

We get the company of the dog without the worry of who would look after it when we are out at work.

Although we love all pets we are, and always have been, too busy for it to be fair to have a dog. We couldn't give it the attention it deserves.

This doesn't stop us being friendly with the neighbours' dogs

There has always been a dog or dogs in my life. For several years I did voluntary home vetting for an animal rescue center, FOAL farm near Biggin Hill Kent. I had two alsatians from there, great animals. We also had other dogs. Our last one being a Border Collie bitch. She came from working stock as a pup. Real crazy. Left her alone one evening. Returned home to find she had tried eating her way out of the front door. So many stories to tell about her. On holiday I tried her out at shephering. I was the novice. She had it in her blood. Sadly after fourteen years with us, the vet had to be called, as poor Lady had got the doggy altzshiemers. I bawled my eyes out. At the same time I heard the song. Time to, say goodbye. As much as I love dogs and all animals. I have had enough heartbreaks. For those with pets. Take good care of them. They really are worth the effort.
