    I flew on those a few times pre 9/11. After that the super security measures made it harder to get a jolly. They had terrific acceleration but were fined everywhere they went because of the noise. I can sleep through a thunderstorm but one of those taking off fully loaded woke me every time. I was still sad to see them go though.

        I flew in VC10'S a lot and it always seemed strange to sit facing backwards. It was, to me, a great aircraft and was very quiet inside due to the jets being to the rear and the flights were so smooth we used to balance pennies on edge on the table to see how long they stayed up....which was usually pretty long.

            Not for me, Pal. My neighbour is a model airplane "nut" and has a collection of all, and I do mean all, of the civil airline aircraft going back 20 years including the VC10 in BOAC, RAF, East African an d Middle East air line colours.

                Sorry buddy - I would partner it up with our Concorde (still to be assembled), but for the forseeable I don't have cash to spare. Have you tried sticking it on ebay?

                    Takes me back Pete to school days. I wrote a typical load of rubbish and the Master marked is simply. Aeroplane, NOT AIRPLANE. Absolutely no comment about the rest of the article.

                    Then another time. Nice and Niece. A slight difference of opinion. Biscuits. Why are NICE biscuits pronounced Niece when Niece refers to a female. Strange world isn't it.

                    @Mike Allen
                    I always thought this was down to the French city Nice and how that was pronounced; just thought the biscuits came from there.

                        Just had to wiki the Nice biscuit , it is named after the French city . Also it is made by several companies . The Dutch Nizza biscuit being the first 1910. And I thought it meant nice as opposed to bad ! You can use this scintillating fact in any chats you have at work .:snorky:
