@Mike Allen I would recommend doing some carpentry. Its a nice pastime, especially when the weather does not allow us to get out into the garden. I'm working on a new piece right now, which I am hoping will be finished before the end of next month. After that, two very special garden projects.

Now for the second of the two older projects. Again, its a piece of furniture for the Tea Shed.

First, a couple of photos of the carcass...

Now, the completed, but as yet unfinished piece...

Finally, the fully finished piece in place...

The final coatings were a stain, then a clear PU lacquer. The one that gives UV protection.

          Very impressed sandy :dbgrtmb:

I going to have a go at making a wardrobe, well the interior of a wardrobe I have a cupboard in the wall it just needs shelving etc. I can't make my mind up what material to use MDF or plywood or something else :noidea:. I am not great at woodwork but like messing about .

I did a similar thing about 12 months ago. Even if I avoid using man made boards whenever possible, in this case I felt that melamine covered chipboard was the best alternative. The various pieces were joined together using pocket screws.

Sandy. Great work. You suggest I should do some carpentry. My workshop is fitted out more like a tool salesroom. Having grown up basically poor, from a very early age I/We the family had to make do and mends. In the past I have bought old mahogany wardrobes for the timber and made most of my home.

NED. I have a copy of nine pints of the law, in my study.

That might be a mistake today. Some of the older solid wood furniture from not all that long ago can bring good money on the current market.

                  Thanks @Sizzy6

Another project, this time a combination of wood and metal.

Mrs. Sandy has been asking me to make her a table for her sewing machine for a while. When clearing out my little workshop a while ago, I found some things to make this...

                    IMG_1751.JPG

The frame is box section steel that I welded together, and is adjustable for height. I was going to take the two drawers, (plastic, yuk!) to the typ, but decided to put them to use instead. The work surface...

...was marbelised by Mrs. Sandy. Thats an old technique that was common here once upon a time. Its only her second attempt at this.

@Sandy Ground the stand is very nice. It is very similar to the tables I have for my industrial machines but of course yours is much more pleasant to look at. The adjustable height is handy. Is it a domestic machine she will be placing on it?

Such a handy table and a job well done by you and Mrs Sandy. Is it on castors? I'm just wondering if it walks around with the vibration from the machine.

Machines rarely walk a table about, usually if the surface is very slippery and the machine doesn't have rubber feet, the machine dances on the surface. I had one domestic do that so I added rubber feet. I have 6 domestic machines and none of them have shifted their tables. I have now switched to counter tops attached to the walls for these smaller machines to save floor space, and again make cleaning easier.

I added wheels to my industrial machine tables so as to easily move them to clean and they don't budge either, even without the wheel locks on.

Now the foot pedals on our domestics should have something to stop them sliding away!

@Sandy Ground that is a good machine! The adjustable height will also allow her to set the machine at a level that it helps her posture. :dbgrtmb:Lots make the mistake of "hunching" over a machine.
