Van likes the sideways or upside down position. Munch is often curled in a tight ball. They both often hide under their paws. At the moment he is on his side on the bed, she is on T'Other Half's shoulder a his computer! :cat-kittyandsmiley::cat-kittyandsmiley:

I haven't had a cat in years because after the last one passed away, I discovered that the multiple colds I had experienced were allergies flaring up from cat hair and dander and the same for dogs too.

My cat used to like to get up on the couch behind me and wrap his body around my neck. Let's call that the flight pillow position. Or I'd wake up and he'd be sleeping on my forehead/top of my head. Let's call that the beret. He would relax and sprawl on a windowsill in the sunshine too.

Love the little poos and wish I didn't suffer every time I've been near them.

Now who's let the cat out of the bag:dunno:

Last year, for various reasons, was a extremely bad year for me but, Shiney knows, my "one eyed monster" Cat, (Sally) died early in the year and that broke my heart.
              upload_2020-2-7_22-59-48.png

Then just as I was thinking that things were looking up at the end of the year, my beautiful, intelligent, loving cat Jenny suffered a heart attack on the 29th December . I took her to the Vets who kept her for the day, doing tests etc, after assuring me that Cats and Dogs don't have heart attacks or strokes but only "fits". They rang me at the end of the day and said that Jenny did have an erratic heart beat but that I could take her home. I picked her up and took home, put her on the sofa and she died in my arms almost immediately and that was on the last day but one of a very bad year.
              upload_2020-2-7_23-6-59.png

Sally was a wonderful cat but I have never bonded with a cat as I did with Jenny and she never purred with contentment but used those purrs in different forms to tell you what was wanted.....a very clever, intelligent cat, and that broke my heart for a 2nd time. I hadn't posted anything about losing Sally or Jenny as, to be honest, I knew people would post condolences, sympathy and comforting posts and, if you'll forgive me, that would only be "twisting the knife" with genuine kindness and I didn't want that.
Anyway, I made a pact with myself that I would leave even thinking about another cat until at least the end of February. But, just over a week ago, I thought about just looking online to see what cats there might be.........that was fatal! I never realised that there were so many Dogs, Cats, Kittens just in Cheshire that needed a home.
So looking through the pics I saw two Kittens, (sisters) one pure white and one black and white that were in Crewe. I gave the Lady looking after them a ring and went to look at them, again fatal. To be honest, I was still "stinging" over the loss of Jenny and I would have adopted a Rhino if that was what she had.
So, on taking two Kittens home, I opened the Cat Carrier in my large Kitchen and the Kittens shot out and, I think, if they could have got in all four corners of the room at the same time they would have! There was already trays of dry Kitten food, Tinned Tuna in Spring Water, Milk, a dish of Water and a Cat Litter tray laid out, so I left them to it I then didn't see them for days, but knew they were still okay as they were eating for 10 Kittens never mind two. So I've been going, as normal, into the Kitchen and they have been disappearing.....until now. I have a glass door that leads into the Kitchen from the Lounge and I've been playing "catch the Mouse" with the White Kitten on the other side of the door, but they still disappear behind the 6' Fridge/Freezer when I come in.
The plan now is to, tomorrow, block all the alternative "hidey holes", pull out the Fridge/Freezer letting the Kittens scoot out and then block access to the back of it. That will leave them only a very large cardboard box, on it's side, with an old Fleece inside available for them to shelter..........and I will then carry on going in and out of the Kitchen as normal. After that I will sit in the Kitchen and wait for the Kittens to get brave and curious while I sit there letting them do their thing!
Oh, I've named the White Kitten "Teasel" and the Black and White Kitten "Fern". Now let's see if Plan A will work.:dunno::cat-kittyandsmiley:

They certainly sound as though they are going to be a loving handful.

I spoke to a friend whose full time job is rehoming cats and kittens. She said that as long as they're eating and drinking normally they will eventually settle down. Blocking off behind the fridge seems a good idea but are you ever able to block of anything from a cat? :)

@ARMANDII ... kittens, huh? We have said we will never let kittens have us again !!!!! Where are they? What are they doing? Questions, questions, questions, worry, worry, worry! We have been owned by cats for 52 years but will only allow older ones needing us to possess us now.

RIP beautiful Jenny ... and welcome Teasel and Fern ... you will just love Daddy's garden ... when he lets you venture outside!

Cat Happy.jpeg Happy days ahead. xx

Well, I'll be using Chicken wire pressed between the Fridge, the Cooker and the Washing machine, Shiney. The real problem is the Astronomy two tiered Bench which holds two large cases containing SCT Telelscopes and I will have to close that off completely with the Chicken wire. The whole thing will disappear as soon as the Kittens get confidence in me and accept me as the two legged Cat that brings food and aren't running off into a Hidey Hole, but carrying on causing Mayhem while I'm there!:coffee::cat-kittyandsmiley::heehee:

I haven't had cats for years now but my real favourite was a cat my parents bought for me when I was about 8 yrs old ,Trixie was a beautiful Tortoiseshell cat, and despite not being able to retract her claws she never ever scratched anyone . She use to wriggle her way down to the bottom of my bed and sleep across my feet, my Mum always made out she never knew as we were always told not to encourage such habits ( my older sister had her own cat too called Dinky and she and I shared a bedroom...and were partners in crime!:heehee:) ,but now of course I know different as she surely found cat hairs in our beds!!!:lunapic 130165696578242 5:

Hi Victoria, because my Kitchen is a large one, I had trouble locating where they were hiding at first, so I used a Wildlife tracking camera that I have. I placed it facing various possible hidey holes and eventually found them coming from behind the big 6' Fridge/Freezer:heehee: So I've been watching them on the Camera screen to'ing and froing from to the food. But, when they're settled and confident I will take some pics of them.

I am sorry to hear about your recent losses ARMANDII :grphg:. Losing a pet is always hard and but getting another does help to distract from that, gives you someone else to focus on. Or in your case two someones.

I'm sure they will have a lovely home with you. Is it normal for them to be very scared in a new environment? I don't have much experience where cats are concerned.

Yes, unfortunately, lucius. They're less than 3 month old, were kept very well cared for by the Lady of the Pet Charity but, since she has 4 Dogs and 7 Cats of her own she didn't let the Kittens loose and they stayed in the cage. So, they're very young, been separated from their Mother from near enough birth, been kept in a nice warm cage, and then along comes a two legged monster who puts them into a Cat Carrier, into a Car, then into a strange bigger "cage" (my Kitchen).......so I think they have every right to be scared . They ran for all 4 corners of the Kitchen at once:dunno::heehee::coffee: I've had them for 10 days now. The advice is to leave them in a "quiet" room, which is my large Kitchen, to let them get used to the room and the smells, which I have done. There's a dish of Tuna, a dish of dry Kitten food, a dish of Milk, and a dish of water and a clean Litter Tray 24/7 for them in the Kitchen.
Just as an aside to say what goes on with the Kittens is, that this morning, I was making breakfast, after renewing the Kittens food, and heard a mewing sound. Tracking it down I discovered the smaller Black and White Kitten, (Fern), stuck halfway up a tiny gap between the Kitchen wall and a Kitchen Cabinet unable to get up or down. I rescued her from there and she shot off without even a thank you:dunno:. I then had to rescue her from the blocked off entrance to a hidey hole as she had squirmed into the chicken wire and got stuck again. So she shot off again to hide under the blanket on top of the Tumble Dryer. The White Kitten, Teasel, was nowhere to be seen and I was in no mood by then to look for her!!! They'll be out later today when hunger and thirst drives them to the food and milk waiting for them.
Last night they spent a lot of time peering:hate-shocked: through the glass Lounge/Kitchen door trying to see what was going on in the Universe:cat-kittyandsmiley::coffee:
