Red Dogwood "prunings" (NOT Westonbirt)

I'm after some Red Dogwood cuttings. Might be too late, but if anyone hasn't cut theirs down yet I'd be happy to pay postage etc.

However, I'm only looking for the new, fancy, mega-red-stem varieties. The one I know of is Cornus alba 'Baton Rouge' but I believe there are other cultivars

Good shout. Can't believe they would be giving them away rather than propagating them, as they fetch a fair bit (I presume they root as easily as any other Dogwood - as in "just stick a stick in the soil" ) ... actually thinking about it Baton Rouge is PBR so they might not be able to propagate even for themselves ("open to public" applies i think?? ...) ... but that might also hinder them giving them to me ... irrespective of whether I make a completely unrelated donation ... or not even that

OK ... I've had a look at my Plant List for Anglesey Abbey and they only list Sibirica and Westonbirt. That's not to say they don't have Baton Rouge, but Anglesey Abbey winter garden was planted before Baton Rouge was found I think ... so might be the case.

Now that you've sowed that seed I wonder about Benington Lordship. Loads of Snowdrops so they might have some Dogwood (can't remember, its been a while since I last visited, but the plants they did have were mostly "choice"). Nice chap who used to look after the garden; I went to a twin-scaling Snodrop propagation lecture there one Winter when I thought I might become a Galanthophile. Although I'm doubtful he's still there, "Its all changed since the Young Master took over after the Old Man shuffled off" ... he was responsible for a massive propagation effort on their "Mighty Atom" Snowdrops which brings the annual crowds in and raises some funds. They also well known for their Summer Chillie Sale too. I might be able to find his name, I never throw an email away ...

Some years ago Mrs K and I went to Harveys Garden Plants to their Snowdrop sale ... February I suppose; that was when I was thinking I might become a budding Galanthophile. We got there at opening time, freezing cold, the event was taking place in a cold shed, and there were hoards of people who have travelled from far and wide and, to have all got there so early must have pitched a Tent overnight! Everything was already sold (literally we were there 5 minutes after Opening Time) and combined with people on hands and knees turning individual snowdrop flowers face-up so they could see the markings ... something they spent all their winter days doing, in woodlands, hoping to stumble over the Next Big Find, Mrs K very sensibly said "can't we collect something that flowers in Summer" ... so that was the end of my Galanthophiling ...
