Overwintered Brugmansia

    Hi all, glad to see my brugs have overwintered ok so far and new leaf buds are starting, I see one has a bit of dead wood so do i prune? and do i repot? Thanks.

      You can prune, but as far as repotting I'd wait until its making lots of new roots, another couple of months at least.

              Well ,Maz you can see where I hacked it, they just need feed and water and of course frost free.:smile:

                Wasn't sure about how far to cut back so I've left mine more or less as is, I just cut back any dead wood. 20200411_085352.jpg

                  I go with your approach to this @mazambo , if you cut back too hard you tend to get later flowering.

                    I, too, cut mine quite high up to establish a "higher bush". Not exactly a "standard" but something along those lines

                    What I would actually like is for mine to look like the ones a East Ruston Old Vicarage

                        Ive never got mine that large, but I did come close one year.

                        Trouble is finding some where to over winter them, and physically moving the pot. :smile:

                            I solved that when wife needed a new kitchen ... I developed a need for an Orangery :)

                              EDIT: Important to install the ropes under the pot when it is planted ... they root through and it takes a lot of "Jerk" from the engine crane to get the pot out again.
