So I went out for the first time in seven weeks, very quiet on the roads: 5pm should be rush hour in Guildford but hardly a soul around and very little traffic. Strange that nearly all vehicles seem to be builders trucks or white vans and speeding, maybe because there is so much space.

Anyway went to donate blood and usually the sessions are chaotic having to wait about an hour with people coming in behind me and seemingly jumping the queue. It was completely different today. Arrived 10 mins early and was told to come back at my exact time, fair enough didn't want to hang around with others anyway. At my exact time I was triaged at the door and asked questions by a nurse wearing PPE from 2m - after that I was let in and it went like clockwork, signed the forms, iron test then straight onto the donation chair, no waiting at all. I would have dashed out straight away afterwards but old habits die hard, so I stayed for a drink, crisps and one or more choccy biscuits which I haven't had for a long time.

All the nurses and staff were in tremendous humour, joking and laughing along with us victims about trivia, maybe they have always been in a good mood and I never appreciated it before. Think I have missed getting out and mixing with people.

I might be wrong but my understanding was that the figures are about the deaths reported each day, not deaths happened on the same day.
Often the causes of death are not clear enough to attribute it mainly or exclusively to Covid, so some tests and/or post mortem are necessary.
Even those deaths which are clear cut and attributed to Covid will not be tipically collated for reporting same day.
On Saturdays and Sundays there is less medical and administrative staff available to take care of the procedures required, so there is a backlog and the reported deaths are lower. On the following days, staff catch up with the backlog, so the reports come more numerous.

At least, that is what I read as an explanation. This happens in Italy as well and I guess in many other countries.

Same here, very noticeable as there's an A road running through our village. A nearby speed trap caught them doing up to 46 mph in 30 mph limit, but reckon some are doing over 50 mph here.

Also noticed lots more vehicles not bothering to use indicators when turning., especially if there's no other traffic about, but with pedestrians crossing the side road they're turning into.

Unless drivers suddenly lose these new habits when traffic gets back to normal there's going to be loads of accidents.

@JWK My 18 year old went to give his second donation at the start of the panademic pre lockdown though. He said there were lots of people there but waiting chairs and donation chairs were spaced more....I'm due to donate next week, and getting in a panic already the thought of going, (I get myself all worked up to go to supermarket too), but said to my son, from the time he went to now I bet the donation practice will have totally changed, so glad I have read your post... I never hang around for a cuppa or biccie neither so I should be ok on the front....donate and leg it

Don't know whether this is true or not. The big omission is that there's no mention when we can resume unnecessary travel again.

It's just going to be go back to work, because we can't afford it anymore.
But the rest of the restrictions will stay.

                      Who says what is unnecessary?
If I m getting fed up then a drive round the country side is necessary in my opinion.

I was too a bit surprised yesterday.
Some outlets simply reported there would be an update on Sunday and lifting of some restrictions was likely.
Others put on front page "Picnic at the park on Monday" or something on that lines.
Perhaps some publishers are trying to force the government's hand.

I don't know it but perhaps someone is leaking it to the press before Sunday.

Do they let you give blood if you take blood pressure tablets?
