Summer containers 2021/2022 ideas?

I'm planning a few 50cm containers of not-too-tall Cosmos, probably Antiquity or Collarette or both

A nice, relaxed trailer would be nice to plop around the edges and other containers too, can anyone recommend a good one please?

The flowers don't matter much as the main purpose is to get some trailing or horizontal shape in. If there are flowers, any colour will do as long as its white, pink or purple. I'd prefer to grow from seeds, annuals or perennials are both ok.

I already have plenty of Ivy and variegated Vinca Minor so might just use those, but new, exiting ideas would be grand.

Perhaps small ferns...?

Oh wow, ... I like! Hadn't heard of these previously but love the look of them. May have to indulge too ..... they would fit right in with my plans for this year's colour scheme.

 

Eurigeron the small white daisy type, it trailes a bit, good for containers.

 

Bacopa is great!! I pinched a bit from one of my sister's plants years ago..and it self seeds easily. I also leave it to die back then give them all a good trim in spring when new signs of life begin. I also bought a couple of mauve and pink plugs a couple of years ago and have managed to keep them going too.

I also cut back a bit from each one and leave it to dry out, then I shake out the seeds to sow later.

I've also got some in my borders, makes lovely groundcover too.

 

As @Upsydaisy bacopa, my wife loves it, I took cuttings for the first time last year and they're coming on really well, this was Bacopa Oct 2020

 

Looks really good!! So easy to propagate aren't they!
I still have it in flower in certain parts of the garden.

 

Oh how nice, Bacopa is a new find to me so it's great to hear it's such a good plant.

@Upsydaisy @mazambo , how do you propagate from cuttings? Do you keep them indoors over the winter or something else?

Bacopa is a great choice in white or blue. Snowtopia can be grown from seed but has a smaller flower.
Calibrachoa is another nice semi trailing plant, like a miniature petunia. Long flowering and lots of colours.
For some trailing greenery in baskets/containers, I am trying Creeping Jenny. Grown it for years around the pebble pool. Never thought about using it as a trailer

 

@Selleri very easy from cuttings, as most cuttings, a 3-4" stem (none flowering) but I couldn't find many none flowering so I just nipped any flowers out, dip into rooting powder and put into a cutting compost. I put 16 into compost and had 100% success. I've kept mine in the greenhouse but they are a bit further forward than they should be due to the greenhouse being kept at 8 - 10°c for other plants. I imagine frost free indoors without heating would be better.

 

I were going to say bacopa after reading the first bit . I grow them from seed my last lot are from king seeds / ebay , I did buy some once which were in a cluster like 5 plants in one cluster but I can't for the life of me remember where I got them from starting to think Mr fothergill you could get 50 plants for the price of 10 . Never thought of growing them from cutting think i'll have to do that for next year.

Also some other to consider Lobelia - Diascia - Begonia illmation white and pink ( ebay ) - petunias - trailing nepeta

 

Very pleased with the Bacopa cuttings, definitely a bigger flower than from seed, I'll do the same this year I think.

 

Looking great @mazambo .....you just can't beat them imo.

 

I love them, one of those plants you just let them get on with it.
