Thanks Strongy. They visit my garden but I've not noticed the difference before, they are quite distinguishable.

I'm finding a couple of blackbirds are becoming a nuisance :rolleyespink:. It's a nice nuisance. :blue thumb:

I sit in my office with my computer backing onto the windowsill so that I'm facing the window. Immediately outside the window, on my right, is a wall. The wall is very thick with ivy and the blackbirds are making a nest just 2ft from the window. So I'm finding it very distracting because I sit here and watch them. Occasionally the male comes and sits on the windowsill and looks in (I don't think he's looking at his reflection).

3ft lower down a pair of robins are nesting and they don't seem the least bit bothered by the blackbirds.

We get nests in there every year. :dbgrtmb:

Nice start to the day the swallows arrived back this morning. The way they dive and fly over us its like them saying we are back. Are they early this year as or is it just me.

Now is the main arrival time for swallows and martins, some have even been seen at the end of March but they will continue coming until early May and by then we will have the screaming swifts.
Literally hundreds arriving at Portland Bill this morning flying straight through on warmer southerly winds.
My first Wheatear this year there too.

@hydrogardener just a point of possible interest, we have some of your wanderers again.

A Mockingbird has been here in the west, in Devon (for two months) but has now flown further east to Sussex and a White Throated Sparrow has also appeared there as well! Too far for me to go.
There has also been a Greater Yellowlegs on the far side of the country in Norfolk, much rarer here than Lesser Yellowlegs which we get several a year.

Thanks stronglodon, we have had one on our property for several years and it has gone missing, I wondered where it was. :roflol:

Thank you Strongy and Victoria. :)

I've just edited my post to open up the thumbnail of the Yellowhammer that was at the bottom. I don't know what happened there.

Yes, I had two true pairs last year and lost three of the four to disease. There are now four again but three are males.

Up until last Autumn I very rarely saw a Goldfinch, but there's at least half a dozen that have been visiting since and look like they might stay.
