Rhododendron simsii - an indoor azalea. This was given to me for Christmas, arrived directly from Thompson & Morgan. I was impressed by its quality and that the pink and white flowers appear to be growing on the same plant. It lives on the bathroom windowsill, I just took it outside to take a photo for the donor as it was rather a dark morning!

Thanks, but when we came in later today the Amaryilis was on its side, not the pot fallen over, but being so top heavy, the whole bulb had swivelled in the compost. :yikes:

Managed to place it back upright with some support, hopefully not too much damage done. :fingers crossed:
Looks like the roots had not developed enough or the pot not deep enough, it was a kit with the bulb, pot and bag of compost.

Always a worry with such beauties but pleased the flowers stayed intact. I always worried about the orchids too. Must say I don't find supports holding them up too attractive either, but sometimes needs must. :frown:

I think its pretty normal for the forced amaryllis to fall over, they tend to get too tall at this time of the year and top heavy.

Looks great Michael. What is the difference between it and R baccifera?

R baccifera has thick stems and minute yellowish flowers. It produces white berries similar in appearance to mistletoe.

R campos-portoana has thin slender stems and produces lovely white flowers. It produces small orange berries but mine has never done that, the flowers have always faded with no berries having formed.
