I tried with acoustic back in my 20's but fingers were to short to barre a chord, tried later with an electric but same problem so I gave up.

Ha! My guitar teacher had a Beatles fixation. It didn't go down too well with those of his pupils (yours truly included) that wanted to play Led Zep, Deep Purple, Cream etc. So we formed a group  I played bass and sang. Oh happy, happy days. It was worth only having long fingernails on one hand :roflol:

I wish I could play one. I had violin lessons as a kid hoping to follow in my grandad's shoes who was an excellent player. I was terrible and could never quite get the right notes, it must be the same as any stringed instrument, you need to press the string at the right point. So I decided to take up the piano because you press a key and it makes the right note. I was terrible at that too.

I tried both piano and guitar back in my younger days. My Mum played piano and we had one in the back room so we all use to have a go. Unfortunately none of us really took after Mum!
I went through my Hippie stage and attempted to strum away on my guitar......but nothing recognisable emerged.:roflol:

Only fretless instruments. The guitar's frets avoid that problem. A piano is easier than a guitar (not that I can play piano) as each note (pitch not name) can only be played in one place. On a guitar, a single pitch can be played anywhere from two to five places.

Just now I am working on the rhythm for Dire Straits, "Sultans of Swing". That is a good workout. An hour of that is as good as an hour of Cardio in the gym.

I was always asked if I could play "over the hills and far away".
But I couldn't remember who played that one.:biggrin:
