I've found it Jocko, you have to click on the windows symbol at the bottom of the screen which brings up a menu of all kinds of stuff and the power off button is on the right at the bottom, but tiny.

The thing I find amazing is I've put hardly anything on this laptop and I have this 190GB free of 237GB.
So where did it all go?
Why do they all seem to have such small space on the HD now.

So they make computers with less HD and take most of it up with the systems that take to run it.
Being my sceptical self is this about getting money for using the cloud

              @pete @wiseowl

Our W10 and W11both show around 27gb for windows so suspect you have some old installation files floating around.

They can usually be removed by using the inbuilt Disc CleanUp tool.

Just type Disc Clean into the task bar Search Box and open up the App.

You will see a small box near the bottom saying 'Clean Up System Files' so check that and it should reduce the size of the spaced used by Windows.

Note , if you do have lots old installation system files it can take 10 -15 mins for the programm to do ts job.

As you have sorted out your problems with Google @pete there's no need to contact my son. But he would be willing to help if you have further problems.

That is why I bought this HP. I have 512GB, although a small amount of that is used by the computer.

@Jocko there is no longer a menu on the left side of the screen accessed from Start. If you look at @wiseowl's post #242 that is what we see on Windows11, it gives us access to the same areas but is in the centre, lower part of the screen. The box is brought up by clicking on a window icon on the task bar. The background colour of the box can be changed to suit.

Don't have the details to hand, but did read some time ago, that you can make it so the Start menu etc is to the left of the screen , more like W10, as many folk just prefered it that way.

While this will place the Start menu back where you expected it, it will not restore the one you were used to. To get that back, you’re going to have to go to a third-party app.

Just tried the disc clean up and it shows I can save 2.8Gb .
That still means that there must be a a lot of other stuff on it other than windows 11.
                      45Gb or there abouts.

If you do a list of C drive your may see Windows.OLD listed , as below.

However you cannot remove it for about 10 days as its retained so if you have problems you can roll back to the old version.

If there is no Windows.old , then you must have some other files etc on there, so you need to do a list of your Storage like Wiseowl did, and a list of your C drive and folders to identify whats using all that space.

Yes, though not much point in Updating to W11 if you keep going back to earlier styles etc.
We will stick with the W11 interface, you soon get used to its new layout, be boring if everything was the same ! :)

Check your Updates History, a recent one might have affected things, so uninstall it and see if that clears the problem ?

Seems with every main update Microsoft make, they cause big problems for some users.
There is currently a known bug with the recent W11 22H2 update but no idea if its affect Camera connections.

We generally do a System Image backup before any such major update so we can easily restore back if we get any such problems; only takes <10 mins to do a system backup, saved us many a time !

Probably not gone about it the right way, but I did a search of drive C and it came up with windows 10, so I guess its on there somewhere.

Mine wants to do some updates when I next close it down.
