Had to wash the sticky stuff off my car yesterday. I usually park it under a large sycamore street tree. Had to get the stuff off with WD 40 last year but caught it while it was soft enough to wash off this year.
Will the aphids go away when the leaves firm up?
    Please say yes!

Not necessarily, I have my neighbours giant goat willow overhanging my greenhouse and some years it gets infested and the sticky stuff turns black.

I didn't want to hear that @pete ,
Good luck this year with your greenhouse.
Maybe goatwillow aphids are different - says she hopefully.

They are very likely to be a different species of aphid.
I know certain kinds of lime tree are notorious for harbouring them.
Also have a mate who has a large oak in his garden and until it died he used have his car covered in stick honeydew.
Last time I looked he was using the car as a bird table, seed and bread scattered on it, one of those big old Volvos.
