A friend at the New York State Conservation Department told me they have been seen in western New York, so it is entirely possible. I told my wife when I saw it that it was a cougar. Large, dark brown, solid color, long tail slightly curled at the end, fluid strides of a cat. I am positive it was a cougar. Vermont can just keep insisting they are extinct, they will eventually find out. :yikes:

On this morning's wander, I came across three ladies strolling on the same trail. Being the gentleman that I am, I elected not to disturb their stroll, so I made a right turn after I took their photo. I just noticed the darn rabbit, photobombed my image. :gaah:

I was sitting next to my pond earlier and the last few days I've noticed what looks like cabbage white butterfly caterpillars on the water cress growing in there,
There was a cabbage white butterfly hanging around near the water cress, suddenly a frog jumped up in the air about 6 ins and grabbed the butterfly, it was gone in less than a second.
            Never seen anything like it.

This juvenile cottontail definitely looks like it has attitude with a capital A.

My son lives in Canmore, 70 miles from Calgary, Alberta, where cougars are seen occasionally in the foothills of the Rockies. Some years ago my daughter-in-law was managing a coffee shop when her under-manager was killed by a cougar. She was cycling on a trail when attacked. They are not to be underestimated when hungry.

Sad story, yes, I am aware that they can be dangerous.

@strongylodon not a fan of spiders but they do produce fabulous webs and have so many different colours that merge into the foliage of plants.

I think raccoons are one of nature's most endearing creatures, they always look so, guilty.
