This is Robbo who quite often follows me around the garden and sometimes sits on my shoulder whilst I am working.

Yesterday he was giving me advice about the problem with our greenhouse

Did he offer you a sledgehammer @shiney ? :heehee:
I missed getting a pic of the wee coal tit who was very busy burying sunflower hearts in the wall basket near the kitchen window [mentioned on another thread] but the birds are eating like nobody's business. I think they like the mix I got at the nearby mill we have here. It's about to run out, and they'll get the usual mix I buy online. I hope they don't start chapping on the door to complain...
The collared doves are getting a bit braver too, and even chasing off the jackdaw that's discovered the ground feeder gets replenished regularly

They were back on Friday. Not the best pic unfortunately- the stormy weather meant my windows were manky again after being cleaned two days before! They were waiting for the wood pigeon to hurry up at the feeder

      113_0203.JPG

The same problem the previous day with a pic of this little goldfinch bouncing around on a V.bon. He was enjoying himself though

Pink Footed Geese are a rarity in Southern England unlike in the North where they can be seen in hundreds, possibly thousands.
Here we have just two!! recently arrived at an ex gravel pit near Dorchester.

We had a skein of 100+ heading east over our house this morning. They regularly commute between the west coast and the east. One day they'll be going in one direction, another day in the opposite direction. Bizarre really because they must use up so much energy flying hundreds of miles.

Or - 'stop following me Kevin' :heehee:

We get them up here, but whenever I see a flock of geese in this area, they're always in the air, so I never know what they are. They're more common in the east - more suitable habitat for them I believe. I think @Sheal has mentioned them. That's generally the area where they're most prevalent. I presume the shallower estuaries, with better landing sites etc. suit them well.

Had to come inside now, too many ladybirds flying about, the walls of the house are covered in ladybird and i don't think there is enough space for all to hide through out the winter

Our ladybirds have just started to come in too. They hang around on the outside of the windows looking for an open one and in they come. They always go in the bathroom corners. If you disturb them they just regroup and give off a stink! So we just leave them. When you have a bath they drop into it. And they love soap. They get on top of it.

I've seen Brent, Greylag and Canada geese here @fairygirl but don't remember seeing Pink Foot. As I was leaving Inverness today there was a huge skein flying south west, at least 100 birds I would think.

Ah - apologies @Sheal . I thought you got them there. Geese are generally more common up there where you are, and round Montrose etc.
I've no idea which ones we see here - when they do appear. I like seeing/hearing them though. Not so many suitable sites over on this side, although southern areas will likely have them in decent numbers - I expect the Solway Firth has good populations due to the landscape there between southern Scotland and north west of England.

No need to apologise @fairygirl. Yes, we get a lot of geese here and I sometimes see fields covered in them, possibly 3oo or more. I visited the Solway Firth many years ago but don't remember seeing geese, although the landscape their would suit them.

A few Long Tailed Tits made a brief visit this morning, a couple were insect hunting just by the conservatory door.
