Latest Moan From You and Me 2025

I have jars of pickles and chutney and jams and marmalade I brought with me from Belgium and I didn't make any that year, other than dunking blackcurrants and damsons in jars with vodka and gin. They're still good. I did get around to straining the fruit gin and vodka a couple of years ago so it will be maturing nicely now.

No parking problems in our little hamlet - everyone has their own parking spaces and nobody's daft enough to leave a car outside in the narrow lanes as the tractors and harvesters ar much bigger and there are ditches either side....

 

Relatives that ring you up and after the usual politenesses, start talking about friends that you've never met.

 

My mum used to do that @NigelJ, especially her work colleagues who were all underperformers, and she would also go one at length about rellies I'd never met cos she fell out with every one of them.

My next door neighbours have a car parked directly outside on the road, we have found out its up for sale in one of the motoring mags, its been there weeks now and obviously who ever owns it dont want it cluttering up their space.

The police even knocked on the neighbours door asking who it belonged to as it wasn't insured, but they went away and its still there three weeks later.

They spotted on thier doorbell camera that someone came up and drove it away for a few minutes then put it back in exactly the same place, the neighbours on the other side of the road are now parking a car opposite with two wheels on the grass verge.

A fire engine or ambulance would struggle to get through a lot of the time.

 

The presentation of the FIFA Peace Medal to Trump was no joke, at least not as far as either the giver or recipient were concerned. When a sycophant like Infantino presents a 'prestigious award' to a narcissist like Trump, they both believe they are winners.
To the rest of the world it's a joke, but you do wonder why the board of FIFA didn't veto it.

 

@pete both DVLA and local councils will remove or clamp uninsured cars. It could be worth informing them.

I would have thought the police would have done that, but maybe they don't talk to the council.
Its a PITA stuck there all the time, I'm pretty sure its someone from down the bottom end of the road, up where I am most people tend to get their cars off the road, but down the bottom end it's just littered with big vans and pickups and they often dump their excess junk up here.

 

Getting to the stage when anyone can present anyone with a Peace Price or Medal. It means SFA these days particularly when awarded to someone like Mr. Trump. He's deluded enough to fall for it and expects others to do the same .

 

The trouble is @Philippa that the credulous do believe he's ended wars and his tariffs have MAGA'd the USA.

 

Quite agree @Obelix-Vendée - his actions and attitudes are simply to MTG. Whilst there has been much debate regarding his mental abilities and his suitability to be President, his fans will follow him to the grave. Unfortunately, they are dragging the rest of us down with them.
If it is true that he claims to have ended 8 wars so far, it's a shame he has not yet listed them and provided credible evidence.
