Hi all, I've just got into this growing thing malarky, it started in Feb this year when I bought a packet of herb seeds as I like home cooking, and lets face it there's nothing like fresh anything, my gf was so impressed she insisted on buying me a lovely shiney food processor last year, a Kenwood.

Anyway back to Gardening, to give you some idea how OCD its grabbed me I'll give a rough list of what I've been growing, Sage, Thyme, Marjoram-sweet, Dill, and sweet basil, it was a multi pack, but within a few days I'd been back into town and came home with chives, Mint, Carrots and lobelia (1,600 seeds lol) and more pots and some 50 cell trays with clear lids and a bag of compost, after an evening on the dinning room table it was all seeded, about a day or so later a mate poped in on his way to BnQ, so I went along for the ride (BIG MISTAKE) I ended up with yet more seeds n trays n pots n growbags n compost, I seeded Peppers, Chilli's, French Marigolds, Nursturshums, Cucumber Market More ridge, Tomatoe-Money Maker, Tomatoe Gardeners Delight, Peas Sweat Anne, Peas Hurst Greenshaft and runner beans:yess:

It was all getting well out of hand, so I tried to make myself stop, only to find myself sneeking into Poundland when I was in town, the 50 Dutch Iris were a bargon I recon for £1, I'll count them tomorrow out of interest, I counted them out the packet, but I think they are all up, then we started a Sun flower race with the kids, then I built a planter for potatoes and put them in (Foremost first earlys) oh and I'm on my second radish harvest now.

Anyway back on Topic and the compost in my Processor, the gf asked me about a flower she liked but did'nt know its name, she said it was like multi coloured daiseys, so I went into RD and they had 3 for 4 on seeds:yess: It turns out with the gf I got it correct, it was Messybryanthum-Livingstone daisey, so that was good, I looked at the other packets thinking about the time of the year and choose another 3 packets, Pumpkin 100wieght (coz I read the forum pumkin thread so can get free advice up there:heehee:) Cabbage Golden Ace-Primo (ii) and the curve ball, I got some Onion, Bedfordshire Champion, seems very very late to grow from seed but reading on the forum the min I'll get is some salad onions:cool: so I set about planting my new seeds, I put in 4 Pumpkins in six inch pots, and then opened the Living stone daisey:scratch: the seeds are tiny, like Mint and Lobelia, reading on this forum Ziggy said something about the energy in the seed and the size and all, its all related, and thats also related to the compost:scratch: I looked at it and it deffo has some lumps and the odd bits of twig that would'nt do a little seed any favours, so I sat and thought what I could do? I needed to seive or cut it into a finner size.............then it came to me, the food processor with the metal knife blade, and it worked fantastic:dancy:compost like fine coffee grinds, at last, just for these smaller seeds that need the extra help:help:

So I ask the forum members, is compost in my Kenwood a good idea? or do I need medical help? :loll:

    Kind Regards Plant Potty:WINK1:

ps Please be gentle I'm new.

My gardens (Front & back) are both pretty small, but since March I've grown so many flowers from seed, so much I've had to start giving them away to my sisters because I have nowhere to put anything else!

      Hi Plant Potty
seems like you truly have the growing from seed bug !
When I plant very small seeds , I use a very fine kitchen sieve and just sprinkle a thin layer, about 2-3mm , of seed compost on top of the seed tray compost. That's all your little seeds will need , and you can leave your Kenwood nice and clean in the kitchen !:D

      Hi Potty,

      Nice to see the enthusiasum:dbgrtmb:

I'd agree with Harry, a sieve is a better way to get fine compost, or you can buy a small bag of seed compost, which is much finer than the multi purpose stuff.

Keep the blender for more important things like making Rubby Dubby for your boat trips.

Fun post! Good luck with your veggies this summer. :)

As has been suggested compost in the food processor probably isnt the best idea.
However, you are the man of the house and implicit in that role is your right to whizz up compost in the food processor.
Try putting some in the microwave too.

Hopefully the make up sex will be worth it.

Reminds me of the time I found my son carefully replacing the kitchen scissors after using them to trim his toenails.

Yes, I think I am beyond help now:hapfeet: I've not washed the blender yet, maybe I should make a batch before cleaning up the kitchen?

Maybe so ziggy, but I dont have a sieve yet, and in Pottyland the end ALWAYS justifys the means:D

Thanks JWK, no I've not told her, but I'm sure she'll be ok about it as long as her Messy's grow:mute: and anyway she's in Alaska so will never find out (unless there's compost in the next batch of merrangues)

Now the microwave is a cunning idea, it has potential! if I took out the electron beam plamsa core generator and attacked it to the end of a hoe I could weed and blow up small pests in its path:dbgrtmb: and even cook jacket potatoes underground:yess: just dig them up when the hoe goes "Ping"

At least he brought them back!:D
My garden is an ok size but with a ton of work to do, brickwork and boarders to build and bindweed to kill:cry3:but yes I give away plants and convince friends their garden is lacking a pumpkin or two:happydance:

Am I to think your post points more towards my need for medical help? dont worry you're far from the first:yahoo:
