IE is telling me there's possibly something nasty...

    Get Firefox less hassle and its free. I have been using it for about 5 years no problems.

    I've been having trouble with my computer over the last week with it taking ages to start up and seeing a lot of activity on the CPU meter. Then two days ago while on GC the computer screen flashed up "Windows has experienced a problem and is initiating a Crash Dump" and recovered by rebooting itself. I have Bullguard as the primary security system and among other systems I run Spy Doctor. Spy Doctor has a programme called Intelliguard [an anti-virus firewall] which is supposed to run all the time. Unfortunately, when it's on it clashes with Bullguard and everything goes haywire, so I have it switched off "permanently" according to the options tab. But I've found out that it will switch itself back on again after a while without permission. Anyway, sure enough when I checked Intelliguard was on again. So I switched it off yet again and everything is back to normal. Just wondered if anyone was running a program that was clashing with their security system and having problems.

    At least IE detected the problem and took action, Scrungee. It would have been a different story if it had just sat there and let the "malicious" problem into your computer.:snork:

      But it appeared that IE was telling me that the malicious problem was a Gardeners Corner website page - the parsnip thread as shown at the top of the screenshot in the OP.

      The sort of thing you have to expect from parsnips! :heehee:

      Sorry :love30:, can't help you. I haven't had any problems with GC and I use IE. My virus checker (apart from checking everything that comes down) updates and checks the computer twice a day. It hasn't shown any problems with GC.

      I had a quick look - don't immediately see anything nasty on that post (its moaning about is the one that you posted with the bogroll picture in it) - my guess would be that IE has a problem with the image, perhaps when you click on it & resizes slightly ?

      I suspect its more likely that theres a conflict between the plugins you have enabled, so might be worth having a look at whats enabled & disable anything that you dont actually use (The option in IE8 is Tools menu -> Manage add-ons) - cant do any harm.

        Its referring to an add-in, rather than the page you are looking at?

        Its possible that the add-in came via an advert that was presented on the GC page (which will be outside the control of GC).

        Suggest you run a malicious "malware" checking program just to make sure there is nothing lurking on your system. I use "Search and Destroy"

            I suspect it could be the Google Ad, as suggested above.

            I personally use Firefix (with other add-ons added), I use ESET Smart security, ESET is great, very low resource usage and picks up any bad things on a page/link, I haven't had any issues on my laptop since using it (used ESET for around 3 years now).

            I have considered Chrome, but until I have any real issues with Firefox, I'll stick with it.

            IF I were you, I would give another browser a go, as you will find the page loading times using a different browser will be a lot quicker than IE.
