No idea Kristen, but apparently there are a couple of other members with the same issue.

I would have thought looking at settings of both this account and "Cumbrian Gardener" (My new account and fast) and comparing should show any glaring differences, failing that, running an Sql command on a bunch of users will pick up any differences to the keen eye with the right command.

    Steve...:)

I was thinking more along the lines of whether you had excessive posts (you don't!) too many likes (you are just right!) and so on (which might cause some index lookup to be slow).

DO you have mega numbers of Alerts that you haven't "reviewed", an inbox jam packed full? anything like that?

(Not sure if a brand new account is a useful comparative as my guess would be that it is something related to your account's usage, rather than just a simple On/Off switch - could be anything, of course, so just thinking out-loud in case it helps the diagnostic process)

From a DB PoW I would want to "sit" on a running trace whilst you did some stuff to see what particular DB queries were relatively slow ... but I suspect that is far from feasible in this scenario :(

Nope to alerts, 15 messages in inbox...cleaned regularly, no uploaded photo's here or blog posts, nothing that would "get in the way".

But it is useful to show that it is certainly not a problem from my end, which is why I created it. Incidentally I'll pass the details of the second account to my better half when this issue is solved.

As it stands my account (usergroup) is "Basic" this is what I have been told has been done to give the speed up which lasts for a while, then deteriorates. It sounds to me like a setting is slipping somewhere, somehow.

But what I do find very odd is that the speed slows down and occasionally when clicking a forum area link or a topic link, it takes me to the forum index page. This is not a problem I would expect, 404's and time outs yes!

It reminds me of old forum software addons that I have used myself called broadly "Nuisance user" addons, these where written to take users to weird places and slow down users who had become a nuisance to that particular forum, eventually p'ing them off enough so that they juat leave on their own accord.

I dont think for one second it is in use here in just reminds me of that

    Steve...:)

Could be a Time Out (or Server Busy) "catch" that just redirects you there?

Might be worth seeing whether there are redirects going on - maybe that is where you are getting held up - perhaps due to unanticipated permissions settings on your account or somesuch.

Perhaps it's just me but after the server switch all was grand, but today and perhaps a bit yesterday, there's been a lot of 'hanging' during navigation and error messages (An error has occured, please try later ... or something like that) when trying to post.

Other sites etc and my connection are fine.

I thought it was just me too Gay but after getting 3 pms the same i've just checked and we are all getting the same error message resulting in multiple posts.

Its telling us things haven't been posted when they have.

Just started a thread about it in the office & it came up 3 times:doh:

Don't know whats happening but we are onto it.

Apparently we were re booted earlier & it could have been down to that, he said, pretending to know what he's talking about.

I'm using Google Chrome and having no problems in page loading. I don't think it's as much as half and half with members, Steve, otherwise we would have had a lot more reports than we have had. It appears to be more of an isolated few, with some having wider issues with the Net than just GC.

Armandii, I'm having real issues again this evening. Struggling to post and when it does it doubles up, can't create new threads and most importantly can't send you a PM, I'll try with that again tomorrow. :doh:It's just spouting server error each time. :dunno:

I'm on Chrome. No issues with other sites. Page load times here are fine, but posting sometimes times out.
