Wanted - Red Or White Valerian Seeds

    Hi everyone!

    I'm trying to fill my nice big empty border with as many bee friendly plants as possible. I've seen red valerian growing nearby and the bees it attracts, however I can never seem to be able to gather the seeds as they seem to be dispersed rather quickly. If no one has any free could someone advise me on how to collect the seeds from the flowers please.

    Also if anyone has any white Valerian seeds that would also be great.

    Will happily pay for postage if anyone has any seeds.

      If you can hang on for a few days I'll be out and about this weekend, I'll see what I can get. I've seen white and red close to home and I'll check them for seed heads. :)

        Just cut a few tops off the plants in your area, and put them in a paper bag.
        Its pretty invasive and makes thousands of seed.

              Thanks for everyone's help. I'm not in a major rush for them as I need to sort out my bed first.

              Do they do best on poor soil? The bed I want to put them is most light clay I think...

              They're coastal plants, so love a sandy soil which is obviously poor, but there's no reason why you cant give them a go in clay. If there's no other plants in the bed you could dig in some sand to lighten it. :)

                Mine grow in shade of full sun with or without watering and they grow out of brickwork on front of garden wall :blue thumb: ,ive got clay about 12inch down also..i reckon it would grow in most places x
