Goodness.. thank you Bilbo! Never been called a legend before!!!!

My grumble up at the top was not intended as fishing for compliments.

It was to make a point that a tick in a box to say "like," is just not the same as a very short post to say "Thanks, that is it!" Or even "Sorry, but don't think it looks like that!" But then I am probably very old fashioned.

I am sure I am not alone in this feeling, as many of you here have expert knowledge and are always willing to help out others on this very busy, lively forum.

I usually tick the like box to let someone know I've read their post. So it's sort of like a nod of the head to me.

Yes, but Silver Surfer is right. A lot of folk just join to ask a question and sometimes they never come back to read the answer and if they do then a tick to say they have read it is not sufficient. Right or wrong with the answer whoever it is deserve better than that they deserve to be thanked at least. Your point is well made silver surfer and I hope those that are frequent with their questions and fail to thank whoever has offered an answer will note this.

I only tick a box if I thoroughly agree with the contents of the posting as well as like it. but if more than that I will come back and say why.

That is how I like to use the "Like" tick box.
When someone else has posted an answer that I agree with or posted something new and interesting.

A second opinion to back up the first answer is often excellent confirmation.
But no point 6 people all posting identical answers... then a "Like" is more than adequate.

I was a very good boy at school and in the presence of my friends' parents - but outside of that, it's another matter ;) :heehee:. Didn't have too many run-ins with the law, though! :snork:

I'd like to join the Silver Surfer fan club! You are brilliant at knowing what's what and I'll know doubt be enquiring in the future.
