    Just tested mine and its:-

As I pay 17.50 a month, including landline rental + calls, I get the off peak free hour and weekends normal deal, I think I should be quite happy.

Just done the speed test. Ping 55ms, Download speed 6.51 and Upload speed 0.54 is this good or bad please? I suspect it's bad. :)

Depends on how your provider has sold you the package...

If they have sold you a 20Mb/s package and you are only getting 6.5, then that is bad, if they have sold you on a 5Mb/s then great :)

Sheal - As per the above comment it depends on what you are paying your ISP for, but going by what I've seen regarding speeds I'd guess that you are probably around about in the top 30% speed bracket in the UK.
If you used the SpeedTest link above, the results will tell you how your speed compares with the national average.

If you have the BT package you may also be able to save more money. They do a deal where if you pay £120 up front for the year it will totally cover your landline part of the cost (saving about 20%+) and, if you make a lot of peaktime calls you could pay the extra small amount for totally free calls.

      Correct :blue thumb:.

I pay everything by DD as they are generally cheaper and I don't have to bother writing out a cheque, buying an envelope and paying out for a stamp.

I check my bank statements thoroughly every month - which is not a problem. With DD guarantee you don't have to worry, anyway.

      Dave,
I didn't check to see how it relates to the national average.

      Shiney,
Sorry I don't have the BT package. I'm captive here, we can only use Manx Telecom. :)

Considered my options and I have as I said 'EE" formerly known as "Orange" for my land line free evening after 7-30 pm, and weekend calls, and my unlimited broadband, 17-50, Then I have my mobile Samsung Galaxy, 200 free minutes, free unlimited texts, 500 mega somethings download, 10-50. So during the day I make my free calls on the mobile, i use say no to 0870 to get either land line, mobile,or free 0800 land line, shouldn`t have to pay for any calls, and on the speed test I was getting better than 91% of people.

'Unlimited' should mean that you can download as much content as you like, but that isn't really the case as most providers have a 'fair use' policy.

What you need to see is the 'rated download speed', mine is supposed to be 60mb/s, I achieve around 30-40mb/s wireless and I know I had as quick as 67Mb/s wired, so really cannot argue at that :)

So 3.39Mb/s is not good then?

It's relative to what you are supposed to get from your service provider. :)
