I took advantage of the last fine weather on Tuesday to visit Burton Wetlands Nature Reserve [RSPB] in Cheshire. I'm still at a loss with the identification of a lot of the birds but I'm learning. I'm also finding it's not as easy as I thought to be able to get good shots of the birds as they're either too far away or hiding behind something:gaah::snork: But here's some pics I managed to get on the day.

This is the main Reception Area when you first arrive. The windows make it not very suitable for photographing though. There are 3 Hides which are much more suitable for taking pics around the site.

Then I saw the Heron and tried to creep up on him...:heehee:, so sorry for the Sedge in the way!!

Then later in the day this fella turn up so I followed him around with the camera but with the Sedge getting in the way my camera in automatic focus mode kept focusing on the Sedge and not the bird, so I had to switch over to manual focusing. So be prepared to get bored!

I think your 'winning' getting the bird shots Armandii, I'm still trying to get a pic of the Oystercatchers here, they are very camera shy. :heehee:

Thanks Sheal, I learning that's it's not as easy to get a shot of a bird as I thought!! Just when you think you've got a good shot something gets in the way or the bird moves into cover:gaah: Patience, Patience, Patience!!:heehee:

Thanks, Strongy, are the two birds in Pic 11 different?, as the one to the rear appears to have a shorter bill:scratch::snork:

Don't think so Armandii , the rear one is facing away so giving the appearance of a shorter bill. I'm sure they are both Redshanks.
I love watching Egrets no matter how many I see.

I reckon you're right after a second look, it's the angle of the dangle that misled me!!:heehee:

You're right, they are a really good looking bird. I was enjoying watching the Egret doing some fishing in the water, with great success...every jab, a fish!!:snork:

Did you notice the bright yellow feet? It moves them about in the water to attract the fish.
