I don't want to alarm/depress/anger anyone, but, according to the French weather channel, there's a 70% chance that the whole of Western Europe could be set to have the coldest and wettest summer since 1816, the 'year without a summer'. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Year_Without_a_Summer
According to them, this year's long, late winter and low solar activity levels has resulted in the sea temperatures being unusually cold which could affect the weather this summer. They say this will cause very short heatwaves followed by thunderstorms up to the end of August, with September and October being more typical of 'summer'.

Blimey, I was looking at the Jet Stream animation yesterday, not much improvement there either.

Yep I saw this on Springwatch.....it can move quickly though so maybe all is not lost!? :dunno:

I'd rather have a warmer summer in June / July / August than a summer in September / October.

Well, Southern Europe for July/August, then back home to soak up the rays of an Indian summer. I'll be retired by then so I can do what I please!

I missed that episode - did he mention the weather? It was probably so bad that many people stayed indoors and read/wrote books.
